A representative from Calyos will reach out to you to plan an introductory web call where they will explain how our technology works and demonstrate the applications and benefits of it.
Our mission is to solve the greatest thermal challenges by enabling the adoption of the best, passive two-phase cooling solutions - ensuring and delivering a sustainable approach to thermal management in the data-driven and electrified world we are creating.
Rather than consuming more energy to cool down components, two-phase technology uses the energy that is already being wasted to power the cooling system. This innovative approach uses the waste heat (the problem) to power the cooling system (the solution).
The latent heat of vaporisation is the amount of energy required to vaporise a liquid into a gas. Calyos' two-phase technologies use the heat already being created by the component to perform this function. The heat vaporises a liquid and uses this newly formed gas to power the system. Calyos' solutions control this vaporisation at a micron level, forcing vapour down certain paths to create pressure differences that move the fluid around the system.
Two-phase brings a clear set of sustainable benefits that align with the needs of our customers.
To enable sustainable changes such as the adoption of electric vehicles or renewable energy, new kinds of electronic components must be adopted on a massive scale. Thermal management is a critical constraint in the application, efficiency, and therefore function of such components. Many see this as a problem to resolve. In contrast, Calyos believes that cooling represents an opportunity, not a problem. A problem to solve passively, without consuming more energy.
As the mobility transitions away from combustion engines, there are critical systems that enable the function of new sustainable mobility such as power electronics and batteries. Improving the design of these systems will reduce charging times and increase range.
The components that provide energy storage or conversion produce considerable amounts of waste heat. They require complex cooling systems in both the vehicle itself and the charging infrastructure.
As our reliance on computers and the internet continues to grow at an astronomical rate so does the amount of data needing to be processed. This requires vast quantities of electricity to run such processes generating considerable amounts of waste heat.
Cooling these components using air requires huge amounts of energy to cool racks, rooms, and entire buildings. Calyos' solutions target the hottest components, maximising efficiency and removing the heat passively, with the potential to recover the heat to minimise the environmental impact.
As the energy industry rapidly transitions towards renewable sources, the supporting infrastructure will also change. The energy produced will need to be converted, inverted and sometimes stored. Improving the design of these systems will minimise energy losses furthering the sustainable benefits.
The components that provide energy storage or conversion produce considerable amounts of waste heat. In the past solid heat sinks have been good enough, today new systems are required to handle the higher heat density.
Calyos has completed analysis of our solutions in relation to the circular economy. Calyos' solutions continue to be the most sustainable, high-performance cooling systems available on the market today.

10/10
Calyos' passive solutions are ultra-reliable and long-lasting. The designs feature no moving parts, and use a dielectric refrigerant that does not degrade over time. If physical damage occurs then the system can be repaired.
7/10
Calyos' solutions use standard components but the lines are routed specific to the application. Flexibility in the lines can allow for occasional re-use in other applications, but often a redesign of the line routing is required.
9/10
Refurbishing is easily achievable enabling re-use of core components such as the evaporator and condenser. Modifying the routing of these lines can allow the parts to be used in new applications.
10/10
Calyos systems are fully recyclable. The process does involve separating the individual metals, but this can be achieved relatively easily. All the metals used in our system can be recycled as can the fluid inside.
Calyos is specifically targeting four of the UN's sustainable development goals:
Calyos' solutions are a critical element of the energy conversion and storage systems that are enabling the transition to renewable energy.
